The longer answer

Signal reads every planning decision published through the GLA Planning London Datahub and the borough registers and keeps the ones that matter to occupiers: refurbishment, redevelopment, extension or change of use at an office building, or any application whose structured floorspace shows at least 500 sq m of office space existing, gained or lost. In the 8 weeks to 4 October 2026 that produced 32 approvals, most of them in Westminster (9), City of London (3), Croydon (3). By office floorspace the largest were 55 Baker Street, W1U 8EW — redevelopment, 558,743 sq ft existing (Westminster, ref 25/04398/FULL, decided 11 Aug); 80 London Road, SE1 6LH — redevelopment, 348,718 sq ft existing (Southwark, ref 24/AP/3432, decided 8 Sept); 50 Victoria Street, SW1H 0TL — refurbishment, 210,208 sq ft existing (Westminster, ref 26/01445/FULL, decided 18 Sept); 206, 216 Marylebone Road, NW1 6JQ — redevelopment, 157,045 sq ft gained (Westminster, ref 24/03776/FULL, decided 3 Sept); 255 Broadway, DA6 8DB — change of use away from offices, 139,199 sq ft existing (Bexley, ref 26/01162/FUL, decided 16 Sept). Each approval is a displacement event: every occupier in the building must now plan around works, a decant or a lease that will not be renewed, which is why Signal scores "major works at their building" as a relocation claim. Applicants are not named; buildings are.

Related questions

Why does a planning approval at a building matter to an occupier?+
A full refurbishment, redevelopment or change of use means the landlord intends works that will disturb or displace the tenants — a move trigger none of those tenants file for themselves. Signal attaches it to every company at the building as displacement pressure.
Is the applicant shown?+
No. The applicant is usually the landlord or an agent and names are not published on this site. The borough reference is shown so anyone can read the application on the public register.
