Privacy Policy
This policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal data — both for people who visit this website or contact us, and for the business decision-makers whose details form part of our service.
1. Who we are
Signal is a trading name of Liam Kurt Smith Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 15790837), registered office 23 Ashburnham Place, London SE10 8TZ (“we”, “us”, “Signal”). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at liam@kurtsmith.studio.
2. Who this policy covers
- Website visitors and enquirers — people who use this site, book a demo, request a sample or otherwise contact us.
- Business contacts in our service — the senior decision-makers (e.g. a Head of Workplace or Facilities) at London companies whose business contact details we hold so that our clients can identify who to approach about an office change.
3. The information we collect
From website visitors
- Enquiry details you give us via our forms — name, work email, company, your sector and what you’re interested in.
- Technical data our hosting provider logs to keep the site secure and available (e.g. IP address, browser type). We do not run analytics or advertising trackers.
For the service
- Company-level signals that indicate a company may be about to move, refit or refurbish its office — drawn from public record and combined into a score.
- Business contact details of relevant decision-makers — typically name, job title, business email and business phone number.
4. Where the information comes from
Our office-change signals come from public record: HM Land Registry lease data, Companies House filings, and local-authority planning applications, together with publicly available hiring, growth and news information. We do not scrape. Decision-maker business contact details are obtained from compliant business-to-business data providers who supply them under their own lawful bases, with opt-outs honoured.
5. How we use it, and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry, demo or sample request — on the basis of our legitimate interests (responding to people who contact us) and/or taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
- To provide the service to our clients — identifying companies likely to change their office and the right person to contact — on the basis of our legitimate interests (and our clients’ legitimate interests) in business-to-business prospecting. We have weighed this against the rights of the individuals concerned; the data is limited to a professional, business context and an individual can object at any time (see section 8).
- To meet our legal and contractual obligations and to operate, secure and improve our business.
6. Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf under contract (data processors):
- HubSpot — customer relationship management and our website forms.
- Apollo — business contact data.
- Supabase — database hosting.
- Vercel — website hosting.
We do not sell personal data. We may disclose information where required by law. Some providers are based outside the UK (including the United States); where personal data is transferred internationally we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum or an adequacy decision.
7. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards. Service data is kept only while it remains relevant and accurate, and is refreshed or removed as signals change. We delete or anonymise personal data when it is no longer needed.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to our processing, and to data portability. You can object to our processing of your business contact details at any time, and we will honour opt-out requests. To exercise any right, email liam@kurtsmith.studio and we will respond within one month.
9. Marketing
If we contact you about Signal, every message will include a simple way to opt out, and we will stop on request.
10. Cookies
This website does not use advertising, analytics or other non-essential cookies, and it does not require a cookie consent banner. Our forms submit directly to HubSpot’s API and do not set tracking cookies on this site. If we introduce non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
11. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including access controls and encryption in transit.
12. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it was last revised.
