Methodology

How this page is compiled

Occupier events. Press and agent-wire stories reporting an occupier requirement, deal, pre-let or completed move in London, each linked to its publisher. Signal does not print company names: each event is described by sector (from its Companies House SIC code where Signal tracks the company, otherwise as the story describes it), size band, submarket and, where the event is about a building, the building. Stories sourced from CoStar are excluded for licensing reasons. One entry per company and event; other outlets reporting the same event are linked as "also reported by".

Major works approved. Planning approvals decided in the week, from the GLA Planning London Datahub and borough registers, where the description is major works (refurbishment, redevelopment, extension or change of use) at an office building, or the application's structured floorspace carries at least 500 sq m of office floorspace. Tree works, advertisement consents, conditions, amendments and householder applications are excluded. No applicant names are shown.

Large new leases. Office leases newly published in HM Land Registry's monthly Registered Leases file, keyed to the week the register published them (the register appears 4–8 weeks after signing and can back-date further). The register carries no floor area or lessee: size is the VOA rating-list area of the hereditament on the demised floors where one matches (≥ 10,000 sq ft shown as measured), otherwise a demise spanning two or more floors or a whole building on a term of 10 years or more.

Caps and weeks. Per week: 40 items per press group, 25 approvals, 25 leases. Weeks are ISO weeks (Monday–Sunday, UTC).

Privacy. No company names appear on this surface: occupier events are anonymised to sector, size band and place; planning and register rows carry building and reference only. Nothing is derived from customer CRMs or private data; every item links to its public source.

Citing. Free to cite with attribution: "Source: Signal (officemovesignals.com/london-office-moves)". The underlying JSON is freely downloadable. For the counts behind the market — how many London companies are in market, by submarket and sector — see the Movement Index and London office statistics; for who has a lease ending, the lease-expiry dataset.

Questions

About this tracker

Which companies are moving office in London right now?+
Signal does not publish company names on its public pages — the named, scored list of London companies in market is what customers subscribe to. This page shows the public pattern instead: in the week of 28 Sept – 4 October 2026, 5 occupier events were reported in the press (by sector, size band and submarket, each linked to its source), 1 major-works approvals were decided at office buildings and 5 large office leases were newly registered. 256 London companies currently score 60+ on Signal's model, i.e. are in market for a move, fit-out or refurbishment.
Where does this list come from?+
Three public sources: press and agent-wire stories (publisher and link shown on every item; stories sourced from CoStar are excluded for licensing reasons), planning decisions from the GLA Planning London Datahub and borough registers (reference shown), and HM Land Registry's monthly Registered Leases file (building, demise and term shown — the register carries no tenant). Nothing comes from customer CRMs or private data.
Why are the companies not named?+
Because the names are the product. Signal tracks 166,800+ London companies and sells the named, scored, timed list to firms that win work from office change. The public tracker exists to show the pattern — how much is moving, in which sectors and submarkets, at which buildings — and to be citable. Every press item links to the public story, which is the publisher’s to tell.
How often is it updated?+
Weekly, after the Sunday pipeline run. This edition was generated on 1 October 2026 and covers ISO Week 40, 2026 (28 Sept – 4 October 2026). Each week is kept as a permanent archive page.
What counts as "major works approved"?+
A planning permission decided in the week where the description is refurbishment, redevelopment, extension or change of use at an office building, or the application’s structured floorspace shows at least 500 sq m of office floorspace existing, gained or lost. Tree works, advertisement consents, conditions, amendments and householder applications are excluded. The applicant is not shown.
Can I cite this page?+
Yes — free to cite with attribution: “Source: Signal (officemovesignals.com/london-office-moves)”. Please link to the week page you used; each week is permanent.

This is the pattern. Signal sells the names.

Behind each sector and building on this page is a named company with a scored, timed reason to move — 256 of them in London right now. If your business wins work when companies change office, see them.
